Whoa, it’s been a while! The past months have been so busy, I haven’t had much time at all to go dig. And when I do I haven’t been finding much. Finally able to get out to an for an hour tonight which was nice. It’s a farm that is junky and rarely produces anything decent. I was happy to find a 1913 silver dime, only my 7th silver for the season so far. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533355714.340739.jpg

Then I got a smokin’ signal which I was sure was probably junk. Man was I surprised to see that huge “coin” in the hole! I instantly thought Napoleon, but what the hell is it? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533355969.962844.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533356077.245813.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533356131.231046.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533356149.865389.jpg

Got home and started googling and the only comparables I can find are from the 18th century, and they sell for big bucks! They are 135mm, the very same as the one I dug up. Anybody ever seen something like this? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533356740.183993.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533356758.780259.jpg

Very cool find indeed. That would be worth professionally cleaning & displaying.

It would be hard to date without a makers mark, as they were very popular in the 19th C and still popular today.

I too think you should have that cleaned /conserved professionally. I think that would be great wall mounted in a round frame - like in one of the pictures you put up .

Thanks Crusader, and I agree it may be something I send to get cleaned and conserved. There's a small bend on the edge I'd like to have massaged out as well.

The farmhouse is gone, but was there 1885-1930's. The plaque could have been an antique piece when lost, or possibly Victorian I suppose.

Thanks man, it will certainly be a nice centrepiece!

Thanks, it's the only one I've ever seen too. I have never sold anything I have dug up. I've given things away, but never sell.

Interesting idea! However where I found it leads me to believe it belonged to the farm family. It was probably discarded, or could have been in the house when it was knocked down and fell out.

Heck yeah! After I get it fixed up I will definitely search for a frame for it.

That is something else, and in nice condition too. All added up that's a banner find.... whether it goes up there or not. Too cool.

Thanks IP I’m thrilled with it, one of my personal bests.

I’ve been having such a lacklustre season, hopefully this will kick it up a notch ha!
