Just got back from a ski trip to Vail, Colorado. Decided to hunt a wooded area next to a rec center, where I had found some silver before I went skiing. The ground in the woods is still soft enough for digging. Found a few interesting items. The first thing was a lady's compact with a Washington medal on it from the Sesquicentennial Exposition of 1926. Then I found a junior police badge. Next, a Girls High School pendant on a chain. The next item gave me a loud, big silver signal. Unmistakable sound, I knew it was either a silver quarter or a silver half. Turned out to be a 1917 Walking Liberty Half. Then another big signal turned out to be a Mount Vernon Whiskey Token. I also found a V Nickel and a Buffalo Nickel. Also a few pennies, including an Indianhead and four wheaties, which I couldn't get good pictures of.

Here are the pictures. Hope they come out right. Got a little mixed up there. The first one should be the Sesqui-compact.

Next is the junior police badge:

Buffalo and V Nickels:

Here are two silvers I found there before I went skiing. A well worn 1915-D Barber Quarter and a 1943 Australian Shilling:

Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys. But these items were not found at Vail. There's too much snow on the ground there for any metal detecting. No, this stuff was found right here in Southeastern PA. I thought I made that clear.

Really nice finds :headbang: Love that 1917 walking Liberty Half. For sure one of the nicest I've seen found. Good hunting, and it takes a lot of guts to hunt in those conditions. Rick

You had a good hunt. I like that compact case. Most of the ones I`ve found were ugly. Great looking walker too. :icon_thumleft:

I, too, thought those were Vail finds! :D All very cool, but the sleeper of the group has to be the token with the 1950 Phillies schedule on it. As you probably know, the 1950 Phils (The Whiz Kids) won the NL pennant behind Robin Roberts and company. Although they lost to the Yankees in the World Series, I'll bet that item has some value to a collector and it's in fabulous shape. The only other one like it I've seen here was a Cleveland Indians model (I forget the year). Great finds!

A bunch of neat items there. I found the same Mt. Vernon token last year. It was the only non-trash item I found at a site that I don't plan to return to. Anyway congrats and merry Christmas to you.
