Took the day off work to do some digging. Hit an old ballfield and of course the grass was 7-8 inches tall. Made getting deep signals very difficult. Managed couple wheats, 1906 Indian, $4.54 in clad and bunch of pull tabs trying for gold lol. Need to go back when they mow it. Saw an old house across the street, knocked and got permission. Scored a 1943 walker and 1911 V nickel and couple more wheats, pretty good day!

Nice haul.. That pink color on that V nickel that shows up after cleaning is actually why I don't clean mine usually.
Is that a steel penny you have in there too?

all nickels in my area come out of the ground red like that, cleaning it did not change the color to red. no steel penny, not sure what your referring too......there is a 1950 copper play coin, is that what u mean?

In 1943 steel was used for pennies because the copper was necessary for use in military purposes.. One of your pennies doesn't show any of the normal oxidation that copper gets.
Since you said your half was a 43 I figured you might have a penny from the same year.. If its a 43 it should be steel hold a magnet to it if it is

That is a super day of hunting! Congratulations. Did you have an oppsie with the digging tool on the V nickel? I've made a conscious effort to be more careful cause I've nicked several silvers lately.
