I hit it quick and hard today so cold and I didnt wear enough coats so I was freezing with the wind. The Triangle is made from quartzite non heat treated or it would of been a red. The knife has a tip on it like a perferator or drill it isnt broken and has some slight notches at the base of it. Its been heat treated and is a type of flint. Then the black one is some kind of knife with some real nice work I dont think its a drill but I guess it could be its not completely round but its cool whatever it is. Of course the broken point find like every trip this year so far and a little knife made from a quartz flake. All this was surface finds in N GA, rock

Nice finds that triangle looks pretty old

There are a few types it could be but it wouldnt be older than 3000 B.P. imo. Camp Creeks in the guide says they made most of them out of quartzite like this one. It has a hint of ears from the past but so do Camp Creek and Copenas. I find a lot of Woodland pieces in that creek and it flows for many miles Id say at least 50 miles long so the tumble in the sand would make it look older. But it was a nice thought. Now the tools I find there sometimes makes me think older and my friend has found some nice Daltons but not me so far.

Its possible I have heard Backed knife, drill and spike. I just cant figure if it was a knife how it would of been attached to a handle and still been able to cut seeing its so narrow. Its whole I do know that.

It may have been hafted into a deer or bison rib (edge-wise) to make a hand held knife like the examples that were found at Larson 1951's site there in ND. I found several bison ribs with notches cut out so several (two to three) worked pieces of flint could be inserted in the slots. I also found several of the worked pieces that were similar to yours that is in question. Still a nice find, point too.

Thanks I know it looked like a drill but it is 3 sided so it makes more sense as to how you described it.

Good job Rock! I cannot wait to get back to fields up here, but spring is a little delayed, we still have 3 feet of snow up here. The temperature is starting to turn to the good (not freezing anymore during the days), but we are looking at +4 celsius (39f) for the rest of the week.
