The treasure community lost a dear friend this past week, Bill K. Seliger passed away on August 5th while visiting his wife in Ecuador. Bill has worked on numerous treasure expeditions and has written and published many books and archaeological reports. Most recently, Bill was a founding partner of Global Marine Explorations, Inc. out of Tampa Florida. Bill was also well known as the sales and service technician for Aqua Pulse metal detectors in the United States and Caribbean.

We lost a great one last week, he will be missed by many.

William Kurt Seliger, 66, passed away unexpectedly on August 5,
2012 in Ecuador. Bill was born on July 5, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to William George
and Bonnie (Brian) Seliger, former Tremonton, UT residents. Bill was a member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for the
church in Brazil and Florida in 1965-67. Our dad lived life to the fullest. He
was always working on a new project and racing off to the next big adventure. He
was a very talented, hardworking and generous person. He loved traveling and
spending time in other countries and getting to know the people there. He
enjoyed helping people and would often stop and assist strangers, buying them
groceries or just trying to lighten their loads if he could. Many times he would
include friends and family in a special project such as sponsoring specially
equipped wheelchairs for people who could not afford them. Dad impacted the
lives of many people and made many friends all over the world. He will be sorely
missed. Scuba and treasure diving were passions that he got to indulge in for
the last two decades for fun as well as for business, bringing him so much
happiness. He loved sharing some of the small treasures he found with his family
and friends.

He leaves behind many loved ones including: his wife, Cristina Seliger &
children Piero and Valeria; his children: Nicole (Keith) Kopelson, William
(Diana) Seliger, Daniel (Staci) Seliger, Jenny Miller, Stefanie Max, Jeffery
(Angie) Seliger, Jenifer (Don) Masterson, Douglas Seliger, Luke Seliger, Annie
Seliger, Kiri Seliger; many grandchildren: Carlie, Samantha, Megan, Sydni,
Brayden, Baylee, Emilee, Bridger, Ty, Aidan, Cristian, Ronan, Ellie, Eva, Colin,
and Avery.; as well as his father, William G. Seliger and his siblings: Sandra
Rodas, Lisa (Stan) South, Kyle (Timothy) Caruthers, Pamela (Jared) Olschewski,
Barton (Krissana) Seliger and Tracy (Robert ) Armstrong and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie M. Seliger.
A graveside service for Bill will be held Monday, August 20th at 11 am at the
Tremonton cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider that a collection is
being gathered for his wife and young children who still reside in Ecuador.
Donations can be made at the Rudd Funeral Home in Garland, UT or directly to the
family.

I was shocked when I heard the news. Had been waiting on his return to the states and found out in a phone call with one of the boat owners who heard it from one of Bill's DR "partners".

Too early, much too early!

I met Bill once on a bus ride from the Salt Lake City airport to Driggs, idaho. He was traveling home to Tremonton, UT from a trip to Florida, very interesting fellow to talk to. Too bad.

I had a lot of dealings with Bill over the last 10 years. He was the most honest and reputable person I have delt with. Always willing to go the extra mile to help out with a situation. R.I.P. and condolences to his family.
