It’s made of porphyry wirey granite. It’s my favorite lithic material. I collect as much as I can find of it.

I think the term "wiry granite" is a collector term and not a geological term. I can find no reference to "wirey or wiry" granite on any geological websites. In commercial applications, many non granitic rocks are classified as "granite". Unless a rock has 3 simple minerals, quartz, mica, and feldspar, it's not really granite. I would also speculate your birdstone is made from fine grained diabase porphyry, not granite, which has larger grains. Gary
