heres another one f rom warren co i like the black flint i wish i knew more about identifying the different lithic materials i have learned from this forum there are many diferent kinds i have just called all of it flint in the past

thanks for the comments im not familiar with kanawha points this was found in middle tn are they found in this area funny story on this point my brother was digging he had burrowed in oretty good it collapsed just about burying him we pulled him out and he was holding that point!

reuellis i looked on projectile points.com as monsterrack suggested its definetely not a kanahwa so many look the same to me on there but are called different names i think some type of adena though i think

i was thinking it was made of kanawha flint.

Yeah, I hear ya there....i don't know any of it myself, but it is interesting. Your local "mineral club" should know most the sources in your area.
Of course,like anything, it's an in depth study of it's own.

I'll just stick to looking for "stuff"

Is the spotting dirt, patina or part of the stone's coloring? Beautiful point and I especially like the look of the spotted side.
