After hurricane sandy I went to the beach and found tons of black sand. I collected a lot of it. It was about 2inches thick in some areas. I have not panned it yet. If anyone wants a sample and see what they get let me know. Also if anyone lives in the Southern Maryland area and has a blue bowl or something let me know also. It's really hard to seperate anything.

Great pictures of the black sand. I've panned the black sand off the beaches near Nome--lots of color. The only way to find out is to test it--you're on the right track.

Let us know how it pans out.

All the best,

Lanny

Oh and use a magnet to separate the iron based sand...makes finding the gold so much easier...
