the tools you are talking about are pottery spatulas, quill flatteners and flaking tools
i think the ones that are real rough on the sides are flaking tools
the real polished ones are for pottery manufacturing
i think the ones that have some scratches on the face were for making porcupine quills flat before they are dyed and used for decoration and ornamentation
on moccasins, clothing, headresses or for designs on par fleche, ect.
now there could be many other uses for them and maybe i don't know their main usage

one thing for sure, these are prolific around the Dakotas only problem is breakage from farm equipment (like a disc)

if anyone has any input about these, please post your thoughts, thanks, steve

man those are killer, I would love to find that stuff, not sure if it would survive here, Ive never found bone that looked like it was in that good of shape in the ground.
nice putting em together too....

Good call on the tools Steve. Flaking tools are not as pointy as most would think. Because of the amount of pressure required to push off a flake the tip must be pretty stout.
