Thanks rock. That's what almost 50 years of collecting will get you.

Ben, They are from several different sites and I actually have a few more than what's pictured there that I have found in the past few years. My brother and I found a site that has more raw Hematite on it that any place I have ever seen. I've never found a whole piece there but I have found lots of raw chunks, including one almost as big as a football, and a few broken Celts. My brother has several nice Celts and Plummets from this site. Some of the Plummets are from the same site though and I actually found 3 in one hunt in the same field. I wish I would have kept the big chunk I found but it probably weighed 15 pounds or so and I got tired of carrying it around and tossed it to the side of the field and I forgot to get it before we left. It may still be there and I might look next time I'm up there.

I don't think we have much hematite here. That's a mighty impressive collection. Wonder how long it would take to make one they way the natives did it?

GAWD! that "batwing" looks like a stealth fighter..even effigies ..all of it! Love that plummet too!

Very nice pieces WhiteCountyPaleo. A Bannerstone is on my bucket list to find. I have broken pieces but I've never found a good one.

In the field where I have permission to hunt I have found broken pieces of Discoidals but nothing drilled as of yet. I hope to find a whole one that the tractor hasnt gotten yet.

Thanks for the look and I'm feeling better just real sore. Still doing some short walks against the wife's wishes. Anyway just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the well wishes and the pics while I'm laying on the couch. Can't wait till I can eat normal. Mouthful of stitches and a hole in my jaw doesn't make it easy. I go back on Thursday for another look see and to hear the old or bad news. I'm sure it'll be good though.

Hope you get good news, bsit1361. Great hardstone in this thread, but I haven't seen any gouges. So here's a few. From Ma. And RI. First one is a personal find.

Nice! Sounds like you could trip over artifacts if your not careful out there.

I have axes, mauls, celts, bannerstones, and gorgets plus many scrapers, spear points and arrowheads that were left to me 35+ years ago. My grandfather grew up in Indiana and moved to Ohio about 1920 so i am not sure where he got them. I recently retired and am going to start metal detecting and will probably sell some these to get a metal detector. Is there a place here that i can post them for sale or accept offers on them? ( I am very new to this site and don't want to do anything out of line)

Thank you Molly. Surgery went well but still sore. Still hunting though. Waiting on biopsy results.
