Not old enough to have any collector value unfortunately. Serious bottle hunters sort of "turn up their noses" at digging anything less than pre -turn-of-century bottles. Sheesk, what a bunch of snobs, eh ? I wouldn't turn my nose up at mercs, SLQ's, walkers, '09s vdb cents, etc.... WOULD YOU ? haha

The best 1940's bottles will be soda and milk bottles. Those always have value and some are worth $10 to $20 each. Blue Mason jars have some value as well. Cobalt blue bottles can also bring a decent price on eBay.

I've stopped taking home ketchup bottles, as well as pickle and mustard jars. Not worth a plug nickel. I still drag home syrup bottles, but they have little value.

Bring home anything that appeals to you. That's what makes it fun. You can always put the bottles or jars in your recycling bin later on, if you need to free up space.

Just wait till you get into a pit of old blown bottles and patent meds...you think your'e havin fun now. You will quickly realize that you gotta be choosy when it comes to the modern automatic bottle machine glass. It will pile up fast and then you will have no room for the good stuff. You got a good start though, keep it up.

I'll never forget the perfect German gold-rimmed bifocals I once found in an old bottle dump, almost 40 years ago when I was 15. Can't find them to this day. :dontknow:

Don't get cut, , always wear gloves. Safety glasses are good too. I've dug a few dumps but have since learned that "Blown Glass, Pre-1900 is what I want."
Congrats on your finds, be safe, have fun
