About a month ago I had my great nephew for the day. As it would be, it was raining hard.
Last year year I started him on a cent collection (whitman folders). Since we were not going anywhere, I suggusted we go to the bank and get $25 in cents. He was all for that. Not expecting much to find, I said we would look for some of the major varieties also. Wanted him to learn about them. I picked the major varieties listed in the red book. As we went through the box, we threw all 1960, 72, 82, 83, 84, 92, 98, 99, 00 in a container. This was good for about 3 hours, the attention span of an 11 year old is somewhat limited. We did alot of seperating but he had enough. Knowing I was left with the rest of the project and not alot of spare time. It took me 3 weeks to finish off the box. Here's what we ended up with.
7 Canadians
18 non descript wheats 40-57
56 1982 copper large dates
7 1882 copper small dates
3 1982D copper cents
15 1982 zinc large dates
3 1982 zinc small dates
3 1970S large dates (pretty amazing since we only found 5 S mints in the box)
1 1998 wide AM

Next time only gonna get $10 in cents.

1982 was supposed to be typed instead of 1882. Have a new hand, just learning how to use it.
