Hi Everyone,

I think I'm on to an area that took some heavy union artillery. I was out a little last night and found (2) 6 pound cannon balls. Went back this morning and sure enough 2 more. I think 2 is my limit for theses since they are about 20 inches deep. And digging them is a big task. I purchased a Excelerator 12.5 coil and sure enough it hits deep targets. This makes 6 cannon balls this past week. The previous 2 where 12 pounders. I never imagined I would ever find one. Ill be sure to post them when they are cleaned and restored. Thanks for looking.

HH- Ronin

Way to go, Ronin. It looks like the Excelerator coil performs as advertised. I still don't know which to get first, a deep seeker, or a sniper coil for the trashy areas.

Yeehaw!

I know all about diggin deep holes and hurting later. Generally mine have plow points, discs, etc in them and that REALLY bums you out as well after spending the energy to dig the deep hole to begin with.

Might be different if I found something worthwhile.

Great finds and all in one place goes to show ya there is still lots of things to find out there . Just a word of cation if the balls any of them show a fuse in them just soak them in water untill you can get in touch with the navy dept they will defuse them . the army will destroy them ! and dont call the local police bomb squad they will destroy them too since the accident in Ga last year when a fellow was trying to defuse one and it blew up on him he is still in bad shape and the gov came in and took all his collection and destroyed it . Im shure some has heard of this incident . great find though

How did you clean those up?

I just used a dremel to smooth off the rust. Then I rubbed it with olive oil to clean it up. Illpost the others in a bit.

Thanks for the info Ronin, I have no choice but to put mine in electrolysis since I live on the East coast. I leave them in for 10 to 12 months. If I don't they just rust away.
