Yeah after zooming in on the front of it better I can see 4 connection points where a stone or cameo would have sat. Thanks for your help.

Your find is from the Victorian era, and it is a brass frame to a brooch. Judging by the vertical wearing orientation, my best assumption would be for a Cameo.

All the Victorian things I'm finding I've yet to find any silver coin of any kind. Lol
