Looks like a lock from the Stamford, Conn. period 1875-1930

Pin tumbler locks were invented in 1848 and used a flat key. Later they used flat keys with a bulge for strength.

My guess would be you have a lock from around the 1920's maybe a little before.

Capt. Ed spoke to Vinnie (who found the lock) and reports that after a little more soaking with WD40 the lock now works as good as new.
