Well, I haven't posted for a long, long time so I though I'd do it today. I am proud of myself for dragging my butt out of a warm house to detect a wheat stubble field covered with 3 inches of snow in 30 degree weather!! I even talked my buddy Randy into going. Boy was he glad I did. He got an 1864 2 cent piece in at least vf condition. What a beautiful coin!! I managed 2 Indians (1890 & 1891). Hope to get out a couple more times before winter really takes hold. Take care and HH.

Way to Go!
Glad you had a good hunt.

Up in East Jordan we have about 8 or 9 inches on the ground. I spied an old ball field I have hunted that has been plowed to make room for the school to put excess snow. I will try it on Thanksgiving or the day after.

Formerly a GR boy.

Sounds like you have a great spot in Newago! Best of Luck!

Sure is a small world. I spend a lot of time MD'ing in Newaygo County too. Maybe I will see you out there sometime, when the snow melts :icon_sunny:

Hi Oneeye, I just started picking around up around Newago this past year. There are some decent sites there with potential. If you see a guy out in the middle of a field with a DFX, it might be me!! HH Dan

My family has owned property up there since the 40s, so I have grown up fishing and hunting the woods of Newaygo. I have stumbled across some good detecting areas while hunting and fishing. There is a lot of logging history in Newaygo County. I swing an MXT.

Awesome! We can't wait for spring either. I heard it is supposed to get up around 40 and rain later in the week.

What's up with only 3 inches of snow in Newago? We had abit of a thaw last weekend and it's still pretty deep.

Don't feel like the lone ranger on going nuts Dan, I've had a bad case of cabin fever for quite a while now.

Re: Braved snow in Newago!!

I have a serious attitude problem with snow now!

We passed "sad" in December, "ridiculous" in January, and are deep into "hideous" in February.

My wife says I'm getting grumpy about it now. Understatement.

Good Luck,
mark
