Hi all, been out to the Empire Hotel site and started to dig up one of about 4 trash pits in the area.Started last nite and started off quite slowly.Couple of hours later and digging done about 4 feet i managed a couple of keepers.MD s are no good in this area too, much junk from the near by deep lead quartz gold mine.

I been to this site a couple of times before and made posts about other finds .

First find was a 1890 embossed brass barrel bung "Calton Brewies" [early fosters] lol

Second a Ironstone pottery jar James Keiler& sons "Dundee Marmalade"

have a few more bottles and a couple more barrel bungs just waiting on some info on.

tinpan thanks for looking

Hey,I like that Marmalade jar,I think that is made of ceramic stoneware, there are several different pots like this with yours actually being made between 1870' to 1890's.The ink was imprinted on the pot before they glazed and fired it,so this makes it last .They are pretty collectable and bring around $20.00.
