Interesting item. But I believe it indicates the weight rather than a regiment. British 29th regiment buttons were made of pewter and had a different design. Probably a seal.

I thank you guys for the for the I.D. As I looked it up I noticed another one on google. It was sitting on my night stand.I dug it about ten years ago on a Rev. War camp and didn't ID it. It came up on treasurenet. It's French about 1780's. Thank you DownNDirty!!
