I found these two buttons on my last trip to England. Both found in fields around the East Colchester area. I suspect they're a military type, but, I'd like to confirm that and maybe get some more details about them, such as years they were issued and who would have used them. No backmarks on either one that I can see. The one with the 16 on it is damage on the back where the shank used to be. The one with the 3 cannons? under the crown has something written under the cannons, but, I can't make it out for sure. It looks a little like "UBIQUI", but, that's just a guess. 16 is about 18mm in diameter......3 cannons is 17mm. I've got many more so stand by for more questions! :laughing7:

The one with the cannons is Royal Artillery, with Ubique (Latin meaning “here and everywhere” or similar)... but I’m sure if Crusader sees this he will be more detailed about the who and when of it.
But seeing the backs may help, even if they’re damaged.

Yes, I'd agree with British military or even militia and first half of the 19th century.

the 16 is '16th Regiment of Foot" or Bedfordshire Regiment, I would guess it's second half of the 1800's? British Military Badges

The cannons button looks like a Royal Artillery Volunteers from the same era.. Is it one piece or two piece?

Backmarks, if there are any will help date them, Very cool buttons!

Both buttons are late Victorian, circa 1880s. The 16th Reg of Foot & the Royal Artillery.
