The ring I found tonight puts my total ring count for the year at 101. Unfortunately they are not all gold. I'm well ahead of this years goal...for now. Just as the past few weeks have shown, finds can suddenly become far and few in between.

I seldom go out at night, but the past week has been bleak and I decided to sleep in this morning to catch up on some sleep missed due to a going away party Thursday night. Needless to say I didn't go out hunting Friday morning. (Man I'm getting older)

Found towards the end of a 2 1/2 hour evening hunt was this 14K white gold, 5 diamond (tested) channel setting ring. Weighs 7 grams. I'm no expert but I'm guessing at least 1/2 carat in stones and could be appraised for $800 - $1,200. Just a guess.

Thanks for looking and good luck out there.

Really nice. Can you tell us a bit more about the hunt? On dry sand? In the surf? Deeper? Looks great

WOW! 101 RINGS! CONGRATS! The good thing is that there is a lot of year left to go. Very nice ring by the way.

Nice going.
I have a question....I found a diamond ring that is worth about $2000 (several jewelers quote) but the most I can get is $600.
What's the best thing to do with such items? (apart from keeping them)
Cheers

Glad you found a keeper!!! I must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. It looks like I'll have to go back to find some loot. Maybe after a trip to Italy.

Personally I believe quotes and appraisals are for use when it comes to insurance. I plan on taking some of the diamond rings and the "brand" named/designer stuff I have found and selling them myself. With one or two appraisals to vouch for their authenticity and then asking 20 - 30% less. I would never sell to a jeweler or pawn shop unless I suddenly develope an interest in crack. They have to make a profit and they are not going to give you the top dollar. You have to remember that value and what it's worth is different for different people and it's true worth is what someone is willing to pay for it because they want it. Good luck out there.

Murph, I like your opinion about selling to the pawn shops etc. Good luck with your project!!
