Nokta FoRs Gold, a Gold Cube, 2 Keene Sluices and Lord only knows how many pans....not to mention a load of other gear my wife still doesn't know about!
Been cold here, but still about 45º warmer. Back around '95, I had
to tarp a load of drywall out in some -30ºF (plus a stiff breeze) in
Cody, Wyoming. I didn't have the right gear for that level of cold,
and could only work out in it for a few minutes at a time, and
then it was back in the cab to warm up. It's amazing how bad
fingers and ears can hurt when they're thawing out.
At -38F some bad things can happen to the human body, and in a hurry.
Took this shot of the front yard just after sunrise yesterday:
I can relate, I have spent winters in Colorado, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio. Seen -30 to -40F with out wind chill and -60 to -90F with wind chills. If your not dressed properly it is life threatening quickly. After 25 years of it and the ice and snow, I moved back home to Florida.
Most snowfall I ever experienced at one time was 24-30 inches without the drifts and had drifts that totally buried all cars and windows of 2nd story buildings. Worst was the ice storms though, I haven't even had to scrape frost in years now.
Wow Cariboo5. We're avoiding that low of temps here in the mountains of Colorado so far. It's been about 10 years since we've seen that 40 below here in Summit County, but in Park County Antero Reservoir has been getting down to 40's and 50's below this season. Take care in the cold cause it can kill you.
This is my Orchid tree blooming its heart out here in Florida. Its been low 80's a few days but next week
a cold front will come in with highs in the 50's to low 60' s for a couple of days. I'm a Florida native but
Dad moved us to Ohio for awhile. I moved back in 83, no cold weather for me!
