this etley I obtained from Richard Shivley at the Collinsville CSASI show back in 2011. Made from Burlington chert. a small tip nick does not distract from the symmetry.

I found a number of etley points when I lived in Jefferson County Missouri back in the later 70s. None as nice as this point.

I have good memories of talking to him for many hours at the shows.

Unlike many other flint sources, Burlington is available in big clean pieces. That’s because Burlington is bedded, like one continuous sheet. Many other flint types are nodular and are only available in smaller sizes.

That’s a great one, good thing those barbs survived. Is it fairly thin or does it have a little beef in the middle?

Its relatively thin, no major stacks or anything like that. Well made.
Here is a photo, I took this off to the side slightly to get some shadow to better show the edge.
