It's called a Dandy Button or Cloak button. The button dates to the period of your site, 1700's.

That's cool! Thanks! I have not found many objects from the 1700's on that site. It's nice to know there are still some to be found. I have been searching in areas that are hard to detect due to heavy brush, ivy and briers. These places are usually passed up by the casual detectorist. :skullflag:
