button I dug today.......any info?

I dug this today at an old park, the back says "superior quality" any ideas or info about it?

i agree a band button, back in the day marching bands were more popular than they are now.

The one in the link has battlefield provenance.  What was the age of the site you were hunting?  And I need to know if that is a tin back or a brass back on the button.

brass back I think, not positive, the park is on a site of the towns first school which was there from 1850-1898

Hard to know. Certainly I feel confident with What it is...just not so confident about its age. My first thoughts were Victorian, but then I saw that one reference online (although one item online certainly doesn't seal the deal about anything). I'll do a little more checking to see if I can find out anything else.

My first eagle button ended up being a band button.
I still have it. Makes for a good story!
