another cold cloudy day here in salem co.nj with occasional drizzle but what the heck went out for a short trip down the street.the field was so muddy i was sinking in spots ankle deep.was finding these tiny buttons all around the edge of the field.i could also tell that someone else was here already with all the dug holes not filled in, which ticks me off.this area is all state ground but doesn't see much activity.near the end of the hunt i hit the 1785 connecticut coin about 6 inches down and man did it scream when i hit it.who ever hunted this area before me missed a nice coin.the fertilizer was kind to the coin.i love to hunt this time of the year because the wet cold soil conditions seems to help with depth.some of the buttons were down in the 8 inch range.will keep going out until the ground freezes.merry christmas everyone !

I can't believe the amount of detail in the hair on that coin!  Had to have been dropped when it was still shiny. That's a pretty copper, and a great find.

A nice group of buttons, the Conn is fine on details in places  and in others not so good :(, however, your coin is defintely a 1788 Conn and not a 1785. If it had much less edge corrosion and a nicer reverse, I'm sure it would have been a desired coin by the collectors.

Nice 1788 Conn. I think you might get some more detail from that one with the peroxide treatment.
