This morning I hunted the second of five house sites that I recently received permission from the property owner for … this property date’s c.1860. The houses are all located within a one-block radius of each other. In the third photo of the backyard where I hunted today you can see the front and side of the house I detected on Sunday morning. The first good signal I got (that wasn’t a penny) was 81 – 82 and out came what I thought was a silver ring, but when I got home I realized it was silver plate on copper.

Some of the highlights of this hunt were finding two beautiful brass makeup compacts. I also found an old brass wedding ring, a 1oz brass trade weight, a brass clock key, a delicate silver-plated brass buckle and a beautifully decorated teaspoon! I also found an aluminum condom tin, but we won’t talk about that one!

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Like the buckle and the winder key. I would have thought that ring was silver too. The plating held up real well

I saw the "made in USA" stamp on that makeup case and I immediately thought... "Wow that thing must be really ancient!" Nice digs! :D

That house looks like it should be home to some really nice old things and it looks like you found some of them. The big brass items really give you an exciting tone on the ATP, don't they? Another nice hunt, Dave.

Thanks very much for your post Abe!
Personally, I like the makeup compact with the 'tree' on the cover. :laughing7:

Yeah, the 'silver' ring was a bit of a disappointment, but overall I thought the finds were interesting!

I hear you about the 'Made in USA' stamp, but I find that most well made items hold up well! :laughing7:
Thanks for your post UnderMiner,

The brass, copper, silver & bronze relics always sound great Dave!
But I'll dig any tone with a consistent reading on the AT.
Thanks buddy,
Dave

Great assortment of finds!
Thank you Sir! :occasion14:

Congrats on the 3 Widows Tin. :laughing7:

The older compacts are always a cool find, also nice buckle and key as well.

Thanks for your post J, I knew you'd like the tin the best! :D
In all honesty, I'd much rather have a variety of interesting finds from a site then just one good one.
Dave

Beautiful finds!

Thank you!

I found the compact at the very back of the property close to a chain link fence, maybe this protected it from foot traffic damage as it was only 3" deep? :icon_scratch:
The 'brass strap' was likely to hold a 3/4" pipe to an inside wall in the house. I say this because it's nickel plated and decoratively stamped, so it was meant to be seen.
Thanks for your post and for your interest digndeep,
Dave

Amazing assortment of goodies you found there , Wow !
Thanks Arg, as always I appreciate your support my friend! :occasion14:

I feel the same way MsBB!

Especially the brass ring, that was 6" down under a thick root about 6' from the backdoor.
How did a clock winder key end up in the backyard anyway... some kid must've gotten heck for that!

I hit a another house just behind this one today and found a 1797 British Two Pence! :hello2:
All of these houses have produced keepers... I can't ask for more than that!

OK, except for maybe a silver!

Have you come down from your BANNER find yet buddy?
I know the warm feeling you get inside lasts a while! :laughing7:

Well being a northeast guy that loves early colonial history that was my dream find so I may not come down for awhile. I could not be happier and am so honored to be the keeper of that piece of history. Let's see that coin buddy
