I'd call that a medal (commemorating something) rather than a token (substitute for money). It looks like it was originally gilt plated. Probably was sold as a souvenir. There are quite a few CCC tokens from across the country that were used in their camp commissaries, but I'm not familiar with this piece.

Yep, what Idahotokens said, that would be considered a medal/semi token. Most serious token collectors use the word "token" mainly to describe "good for" tokens, which usually say something like "good for 1 drink" or "good for 5c in trade", or "good for ride from depot to Hotel" etc. Yours is kind of a "pocket piece" similar to a Masonic Penny type thing.
