California find - Canadian coins plus one

I found these coins in a house near San Francisco, California.

Looks like they were from somebody's trip to Canada in the early 1980's.

How did the US dime get there?

That is a really odd find, all those newer Canadian coins and a lone Merc Love that merc for sure
