Well, it was a bust. As far as MDing anyway, I did find a couple big pieces of scheelite(sp?), and some MONSTER pine cones. But I didn't even get the chance to bust out the MD. Still, I hadn't seen the ocean in over 12 years, so the beach was worth it on it's own. And seeing the high desert for the first time was absolutely gorgeous. All in all, it was a perfect trip. Now that I'm home, I have a turn of the century schoolyard, and a truly lost town to go hit, work work work............... ;)

I also found an old vicks jar out in the desert, I'll post pix soon.

Good to hear about your trip. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. 12 years without ocean!!!!!!! :o

Goodluck whenever you get to hunt those new sites,

I'd trade the ocean views for your fall color this time of the year.

You think you have seen a monster pine cone, wait till you see a Bunya-Bunya cone that can weight up to 35 pounds and drop from 70 or 80 feet...it will get you attention, assuming of course that you survive.

Check out this pair.

Good to hear it was all in all a perfect trip. I loved it out west when I lived out there. I would say not getting to MD is a bummer, but if you were having a great trip then that is the WIN!!

Congratulations on having a good trip,
