I was wondering if anybody can help me. I have am extremely old coin here that I need some help with. I am just a beginner at the coin identity game, and this one has me stumped. I have found some similar coins, but not exact. Can you help me?
Looks to be an old spanish cob. No idea of the date or mint, but generally in the 1600's. They are popular coins to put into custom bezels for pendants.
Hi, not an authority on old Spanish silver, but it sure looks like a Pillars and Wave variety, 8 Reale, which would put the age somewhere 1652-1678. Maybe it is 1673. As far as authenticity of it, I would be highly suspect, but again, hopefully the experts on the Spanish Cob forum can give a accurate answer, instead of my intelligent guesstimate.
