Found this today while detecting a beech. Anyone have any ideas? I thought it was an old mortar but not too sure. Could be anything

You might want to clean it up and post more pics, it just looks like a crude pipe bomb like that.

Unfortunately i never took it with me so i cant clean it up now, I thought it might be a 2" mortar so was a bit hesitant about taking it home.
