Can you detect around Dauphin Island?

going to a rental on Dauphin Island for a week, does anyone know if it is o.k. to hunt around the place? I know I can't hunt at any of the state parks.

Only if the people renting it to you are ok with it. We detected some along the short, and I mean short public beach while were there this summer, but I was real disappointed as most of that island is privately owned and basically a playground for the well off.

You are OK up to the high tide mark without getting permission. One note, Sand Island is now connected to Dauphin Island at the pier location. This means you can walk out to some nice water and great fishing. I am taking the kids flounder giging Sat night. Remeber that the island is covered with small Hurricane debris so be prepared. I have found some civil war stuff after the big storms so there is stuff still there.
