Can you help identify this rock from Maine?

Hi! This rock was found near water in southern Maine.
I’m trying to identify the very small black pieces within the rock or anything about the rock.
Water bottle cap included for size comparison.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard sbishop! Take a look at Forum: Maine for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.
