went to a bean field again tonite, 1886 map says there was a house there, first coin was a 1923 wheat, then I got a nice high tone between two iron signals, I was running two tone ferrous. I kick the stubble away and less than an inch deep I see a super smooth silver disk. I was thinking maybe a worn seated but it was my first ever capped bust dime. Man this baby is S-M-O-O-T-H !!!!!!
:laughing7:

but I am not complaining, It has no date, but I know it has to be at least 1837 or older, beating my previous oldest silver by at least 37 yrs (1874 seated dime)

then I got an jumpy nickel signal, one scoop of the shovel and I see a red disk........1870 shield nickel.

Not a bad lil field hunt that only lasted a lil over an hour

Really nice finds....I would take them any day!! Heck, I haven't even found a wheatie yet, let alone any silver or gold (I've only been at this game about 6 weeks). I do have a LOT of clad, nickels and zinc......nothing older than '80's. But, I'm having tons of fun and it's good exercise for this old f*rt........my day will come.

Big congrats on that bust dime! It's crazy, I just dug an 1870 shield nick myself this week.

As my favorite deceased metal detectorist Larry Miller used to say "Silvers silver" and in this case you can't go wrong with Capped bust. Congrats.
