CaptainFwiffo's September Totals - Silver, Errors and Epic Oddities
September has been strong across all denominations, producing steady silver, key dates and rare errors.
Dollars:
Found 49 Ikes between a couple banks on the last day of searching for the month. Nothing particularly interesting in them though.
Halves:
Probably my best month yet for halves, only two skunks.
$2,009 searched (4 boxes plus 18 loose)

9 x 40%
NIFC x 23 (3 hole fillers)
Dimes:
Dimes produced steady silver but no Mercury dimes. The first box of the month had four (personal best) and the last had 3. I also had four really nice errors.

Nickels:
Silver was OK, Buffaloes were a bit slower than average, but I got a couple really nice errors, key-date Jeffersons and a huge key-date Buffalo. One box filled 3 holes in my Jefferson album. (I'm down to just five after this month).

4 Buffalo (1914 dateless, 1918 partial date, 1925 partial date, 1921-S full-date)

Unusual MAD clash error
Cud
The 1921-S Buffalo is about G4 and lists at about $60. It's a hard coin to find in a coin shop, let alone roll hunting. Finding it with a full date is amazing.
As for the clash - I keep clashed nickels, and stick them in a tube, but they're pretty common so they're worth much unless they're extreme or unusual. First of all, the clash is misaligned, but there are also matching dents on both dies indicating that a foreign object was in the way when the two dies clashed. Mike Diamond suggested that this combination error was worth about $50-60.
The cud is small, and is a beat up old nickel, but it's the first good cud I've found roll hunting.
The shattered die dime is probably my best find yet. Looking through the Heritage auction archives, similar dimes have gone for $200-300. Yep!
