think these (Atocha) birds might be peacocks - just my thoughts

Believe our bird is the "pelican vulning" as Dr. Eugene Lyons first indicated

What I am interested in now is the use of the pelican in shields, standards, coat of arms perhaps finding a link to a name associated with the Court of Philip the V
or a name linked to the 1715 fleet.

Here is a Spanish Heraldic website/forum.
I believe they cover a lot of stuff for Nova Espana.
If you post a picture there, I'm sure the guys will jump up and down trying to figure
what family it represents.
