The Sov uses a 12 volt battery pack. The cable you listed is rated for 5 volt. Why not just get an alkaline battery pack as a backup instead. That way you wouldn't have to bother trying to charge it up in a car.

I was thinking of just having it charged in my car so its ready to go whenever. Would the 5V cable still trickle charge the battery?

I doubt it, it would probably overheat. What are you going to plug it into?

Don't do it, it's the wrong voltage. Get a 12V charger, make sure it's DC and the polarity is correct. To be safe, order a minelab charger.
