Luckystiff, my suggestion would be to put the metal detector down and use a sifter. This is a more effective, once the small iron signals are taken out then go through with the medal detector.

there can be a lot of goodies under that iron - if its surface stuff - real old cans and such - some guys will take a heavy rake and try and clear it away
but if youre near by to these spots - take your time and hunt it by section and clear everything out

My advice would to wait till it cools downso u dont have to worry for snakes and then get a leaf blower blow all the leaves off take any surface finds then sift till your heart is contempt
