had a few hours so I headed out for a drive to look for a spot, found a nice old farm home with the husband and wife right on the porch, shot my pitch, and got the go ahead easily. The finds weren't earth shattering in numbers but the signals I did get were pretty good, 18?? large cent nice and toasty, 1863 and 1890 Indians, and 4 wheats to get the trifecta! :headbang: 1944D war nickel which is silver #48 on the year 2 more to my goal of 50 for the year!8-), and that ring that nearly gave me a heart attack, the inside says "18" with a crown next to it but its heavily plated, some of it wore off on the outside, still cool though! Plus the cool relics you see in the pic, the one buckle is patd July ?? 1907 Plus the cool 2 piece FD button The large cent was super toasted, looks like it was possibly in a fire so I took a wire brush to it, to no avail, can barely make out what type it is, that's ok though ill take it 20140811_152354.jpg 20140811_172041.jpg 20140811_171933.jpg 20140811_171943.jpg 20140811_172053.jpg 20140811_172124.jpg final.jpg

Thanks for looking and HH!!

Man dave I thought that was THE ring, the big Ole gold ring I've been dying for, that i actually wouldve been able to keep! only the vdi didn't make sense rang in like a dime, probly due to the copper band being plated in gold:dontknow:
I kinda felt like I covered the whole yard but we know how the saying goes, and yes I'm practicing, hope u are too

Maybe, just maybe, if you hadn't sandpapered the LC in the field, you could've gotten some more detail. ;) LOL

That looks like a fine hunt to me. The ring would certainly get the heart started/stopped. But, I don't react to any find quite that strongly anymore. Unless, of course, it's a ring that says it's 24kt and it has a 24kt diamond in it and the inscription reads "Mrs Ben Franklin". ;)

Lovely finds CJ! Thanks for sharing!

That's a pretty specific ring that'd get ya all fired up lol

And there was no sandpaper in the field lol, she was way gone so I figured ehh who cares, it's about the 20th lc I found so I experimented

awesome finds, love the heart stopper, really gets the heart racing hard and fast after the initial stoppage but then reality sets in as you see that it is either plated or fake! I do feel for you, that had to have been a real jaw dropper! the good news is that it is still an awesome find that you would have never found if you hadn't stopped and asked. congrats on the finds, more great detecting
