Found this little guy sunning in the highway by the house. There's a small branch that runs through the edge of the property and beavers have it damed up. A great place for this type critter. This one though, I figured would be better off in the pond than splattered all over the highway.

He's a cute one but them claws can do as much damage as that jaw.

I live by a pond and I always have to pick up them turtles off the road and give them a lift
back to the pond so they don't get run over.

I throw them in the passenger side of the jeep and give them a stern talking to on the way
about the hazards of playing in the road.

Alligator snapper. Very prehistoric creature. Quiet tasty in 30 years. Nice rescue RPG.

If I may correct you sir, it's a 'common Snapper', Alligator snappers have more pronounced ridges on their backs. :icon_sunny:

I don't care what kind it is, if you hadn't moved it, it would've gotten squished or eaten by something

snappers are tough but no match for a car -- if left to normal hazards --they can live as long as a human can in many cases --and once big is as mean and nasty as they come --can eazily take off a finger when bigger

i too often help turtles and "land tortosies" --aka --gopher tortosie cross the roads when i see em.
