My wife’s grandfather recently passed away and I was asked to clean and organize all of his personal belongings. I had no idea he had a detector. Anyone know anything about its approximate age ? I am pretty sure those were used as utility locators .. not really for hobbyists.

It should work fine for detecting meteorites, some of those are worth more than their weight in gold

My first commercially made detector was a Goldak. I was 16 years old in 1960. It was a beat frequency oscillator. I found a walking liberty half a merc. and a war nickle in the same hole and I was hooked on the hobby. I still have that old detector. I use a tesoro now and I have found a lot of treasure with it. I'm 76 years young and a two time cancer survivor but I still detect and I still love it. Best hobby in the world!
