I started to make a cabochon this morning but with the tools I have I think I'll let someone else finish this piece, cool thing is there is tiny gold specs which is pretty cool and makes sense because after a little research this spot I found was a load claim up until the early 2000's but isn't currently claimed up, I'm thinking of starting it off for 5 or 10 bucks, I don't know the value of this material so if that's way to cheap please let me know. Hope everyone is having a great Monday.
Steve.

Odd stone or camera effects, I'm holding the stone pointing it southwest in first image, second image I'm holding the stone northwest, is that a camera lighting effect or the stones effects at different angles in sunlight? 20200727_085258-COLLAGE.jpg

Its a nice bit of material Steve. As to what your pricing it at your about right. Where the gold shows its not real prevalent and is in the back of the stone at the transition line for your Chrysocolla~ so it'll likely be cut off for the gemmy part of the stone. What would make it more valuable would be if the gold was more prevalent thru the zone and extended into the gemmy portion. If it did you could charge by the carat for it. Still you might find someone who'd appreciate it like it is for the curiousity and might be able to include it in a finished cab.

Thanks DDancer, yeah I actually didn't even see the gold until I grinded in, it's so tiny though, I'm kind of hoping whoever wins the bid when they shape it more better and polish it maybe some more will show up, I started the bid off at 10 bucks and I'm good with that for this piece if that's all I get, curious though about by the carat, how much? If it's like you described, I still have a couple nice pieces and a really nice larger piece, well large for this material, it's got some crazy colors but in sections so if someone wanted it for cabochons they could have the deep blue, purple aqua mix color, aqua and even a light turquoise colored section, some of it reminds me of gem silica but that is used way to loosely today, in my opinion true gem silica is a translucent chalcedony chrysocolla aqua colored with no inclusions but again that's my opinion.

How much per carat depends on how good it looks. A quick search picked this up on Etsy : 5.3 carat Quartz and gold cabachon for 230 dollars~ about 43 dollars a carat. If it were gemmy quartz it'd be worth more in my opinion but I've seen agate like material as well at a hundred a carat.

Yeah I haven't seen anything like that so far, the bigger piece I have is loaded with tiny gold not as visible as that but if I think I can show a decent amount in some blue gemmy parts it would make some nice cabs, I'll post some more stuff later this week when I have more time to cut, thanks for all your help DDancer.
