I went out this morning, sunny and cool, it’s very wet in the South, lots of rain lately. Perfect metal detecting weather.

This sounded so good, and when it popped out, I let out a gasp. The reeded edge really had me going.

It’s an aluminum Austrian trash coin, known as a BAZINGA. Oh I was bummed.

This plug had a silver dime in it!

Turned out to be a ‘43 with an S mint mark. I rarely find S mint marked coins.

As soon as I saw it, I knew it just had to be a good one.

Oh yeah, 16.6 gram Sterling and onyx ring. Bingo.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

Congrats on your silver. Love finding chunky silver rings. That aluminum coin is just wrong.

That silver ring is fantastic. That Austrian coin is killer. I found a 1943 French 2 francs a couple years back. Same experience. Good, deep signal, dig down, pull up a good sized silver coin...AND...aluminum [emoji2361]

Keep up the good hunting!

The silver ring (and the onyx), the 1943s dime, and the 1952 aluminum (bazinga, was it?). Lots of silver anyway.

That's a great morning out for you. The silver ring is a nice one. Always fun pushing the dirt out of one as nice as that one. Congrats!

Great ring - You can wear that on your pinky as you dispense sage information to detectorists making the pilgramage to visit you (kinda a Godfather/Brando type scene I have in mind). I hear ya on the gasp for that coin - the detecting gods can be cruel!!

Thanks man.
Both pieces of silver came from grassy spots, that were once someone’s front yard. Pre 1960, so hopefully silver coins are amongst the trash!
