Church Silver

[Valley Ranger]

Found this item in a church yard. They were originally all connected, but very fragile when they were pulled from the ground and came apart. Appears to be in the shape of a spoon, but much too thin. It is sterling. I'm assuming it was "wrapped" around a wooden (or metal?) spoon for decorative purposes. The "spoon" part has been cleaned. Anyone familiar with anything like this and/or the date range? The church dates to the 1740's. Thanks for taking a look.

Looks like the kind of highly ornamental , and very thin silver used for Ladies vanity sets - as was mentioned above for mirror or brush handles.These handles were typically hollow , soldered along a seam , and filled with a mixture of beeswax and plaster of paris to give weight and structure to the form.
