Ran some errands this morning and decided to meet my detecting buddy on some property we've been detecting for some time. I got out of my Pathfinder and pulled out my LRP with the big NEL coil on it and started swinging it 4' from truck. I landed on an iron and then something in the quarter range. Pulled the shovel and dug this Great Seal button!

We walked down over the hill to inspect an area that I saw a cabin on an 1862 map. Dave made it down first and I was chasing shotgun brass on the hill. Dave got real excited when he dug up a cleaver. He checked the hole again and pulls this 1878 Morgan out of the ground!!!

I've pulled halves out of the ground, but never a biggun! Way to go!

Sweet Morgan.

Just so that you are aware, Great Seal buttons did not come out until 1902 so they are not connected in anyway with the civil war.

I realized that. Just couldn't edit the title.

My buddy isn't too good with the interweb, and he was really excited to have me post the find here.
