Hey thought I would post this I found it last week on a river shoreline that I hunt often. I don’t metal detect tho I just look for Native American artifacts but saw this on the surface and picked it up .... I almost tossed it back glad I didn’t. The property I found it on has a lot of history dating back to 1600s I found the button mixed in with bricks from an old foundation from an ordinary or inn that was built in 1660s and than the first court house in the county in 1697 as well as a ferry crossing from Kent county to Cecil county across the Sassafrass river .....
From what I could find the buttons CG stands for Boston City Guard if anybody has any other info or has found one of these in Cecil county please share

Ps: I know I know I need to get a metal detector working on it lol

Really nice find but now that you see the other treasures you can find, you really need to get a metal detector and metal detect those sites!

Great job on that very nice button. If your finding items like that on the surface, you don't need a metal detector !

Great job on that very nice button. If your finding items like that on the surface, you don't need a metal detector !

You do if you want to find more significant finds! Some treasure hunters make about 1 significant surface find out of every 100 to 1,000 finds that they make. For many others, it is more like 1 out of every 10,000 finds. So to increase your odds of making more significant finds at many of the locations you hunt, you need a metal detector!
