I recently found this kepi stashed away in an attic. I know nothing about it other than the gentleman who it belonged to recently passed away, and he was in his 80's. This is obviously a child's size hat being a 6 1/2. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance!

To me, it looks like a 19th century kepi worn by a boy in a school band. Nice find!

Yes band is my guess worn by a child. Not saying it is not civil war era.

Thanks for the insight guys, I think you're spot on with it being a band hat after doing some more research. I appreciate it!
