Went out after work today around 2. Started off slow working a CW skirmish site, then we began finding a few shot bullets. The signals were running out so we switched to a different area. This time of year the underbrush isn't as bad so i decided to hit some areas that are normally overgrown. I began working some iron signals and out popped a small green coin, a quick rub and i knew i had a King George. With more of the same signals my heart began racing, i thought i had a coin spill, then came the flat buttons. The KG and flat buttons all came from one small area. Then a very good signal and out popped the colonial era shoe buckle, i also located a smaller buckle and alot of broken glassware and horse shoes. After some cleaning the coins date read 1789 i believe it is a Guinea, with King George III. If i am mistaken someone please correct me.

Good job. The 18th century shoe buckle on the lower right is a great find. Regarding your KGIII, I believe it is very special. The KG coppers of the period were made of copper and Hibernia is on the reverse, with the date at the bottom. Yours is not that. It is also not a guinea, as guineas were made of gold. I believe it is a gaming token. These are very desirable.

Guinea's are gold.

This is a brass gaming token often used in card games.

Excellent find-I would take that over a half penny any day.
