Hey everyone,

I don't know of you've seen it in the news but Louisiana got hit by a massive flood last week. My house was in this flood. I got 5 feet in my house. Luckily all of my favorite coins in my collection were in a shadow box high enough to not get ruined but all my other coins (a bunch of wheat pennies, some Indian heads, a couple Susan B. Anthonys, silver quarters, etc.) all ended up in the water. They were in sleeves. I pulled them out as soon as I found them and set them out to dry.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to clean them to disinfect as well as preserve.

Thanks yall.

Sorry to hear of your tragedy. I will leave the best way to clean and preserve to the experts. Good Luck and my prayers are with you.

Rinse them individually in distilled water. Then pat dry (do not rub). Additionally, rinse them individually in acetone to remove any crud.
