I went out with fellow TNetter, Kurt Stuben last night. We hit an area where some 1950s houses used to be. It has given up a few silvers, so I figured why not.

After a bit of hunting, I dug a scratchy higher tone, to my utter amazement, a little gold class ring appeared. I got so excited, it was perfect and as gold as could be... I excitedly showed Kurt, then examined it with the loop... and determined that it was actually a Girl Scout ring! And marked 10K Gold Filled. Whoever is responsible for the production of this little piece of trickery ought to be thrown in jail. It's just not right! It looks soooo real...

The real thrill of the evening was getting to watch Kurt dig his very first silver coin. It was like Christmas morning!

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

I feel your pain Tom. I recently dug an OLD "silver coin" that turned out to be a fake. :BangHead:

Hopefully the next gold ring you dig is a real one.

That's still a heck of a ring and has a few micrograms of gold in it.

Shame...its gold filled. I wonder how much gold they fill them with, has to be some because the ones I dig from the water are still shiny, just the insides are ate out... Still a nice catch...

They are saying "sorry" because it is not solid gold... it is filled... which means junk.
I am a spoiled little brat, and when I dug the ring, I thought that it was a women's class ring (10K)... so when it turned out to be a GS ring, I was bummed, and everyone on TNet was bummed too and they all feel bad for me.

It's all part of the game, my tears have dried up now... please proceed...
